" Unschooling: How Learning Happens"

In a previous life, Danielle Conger taught college-level writing and literature and earned two advanced degrees; at this point, she mostly works on not taking herself too seriously. She and her family are living, learning, and homesteading on several acres in Northwestern Maryland, where they raise chickens, turkeys, pigs, and goats and learn all kinds of neat and fascinating things. Danielle can be found online at the AlwaysUnschooled email list or editing Connections: ezine of unschooling and mindful parenting.

Danielle Conger has been learning organically with her children for almost 8 years now, though her oldest is only 9. She believes strongly that unschooling and mindful parenting go hand in hand and begin in children's early years, so strongly in fact that she created the Always Unschooled email list almost 3 years ago, which now has more than 1600 members from across the globe, and, more recently, started the new online magazine, Connections--ezine of unschooling and mindful parenting, which explores learning connections for unschoolers of all ages.

Danielle says she views organic learning as a deeply personal journey, both for the parents and for the children. Part of the beauty of this lifestyle, she believes, is in the process, the personal growth, and watching the learning unfold. Here she is to talk about "How Learning Happens" and how organic learning works for her family.
